He never stopped fighting the good fight. That accolade coming from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was one of the many kind things said about my husband when he died in 2011. I believe the statement captured Johns spirit. He never gave up, whether the fight was to land a roster spot on a team, lead the NFLPA through turbulent times, or in his own way, impact sports and society while battling dementia.

In the years since Johns death, Ive tried to carry on his good fight for better benefits for the players who, like John, built the NFL; for protection for their wives and widows; and perhaps most importantly, for improved safety for todays players.

Thats why Ive joined with the Concussion Legacy Foundation. In Johns memory, Ive set a goal of raising $88,000 thats 1,000 teammates donating $88 each to fund critical research into brain injuries, and to continue the legacy John built. Weve learned so much about the link between head trauma and C.T.E., yet there is still much more to do. Together, we can help prevent, detect, and treat concussion and perhaps even ensure a brighter future for those who, like John Mackey, suffered the effects of head trauma.

Please consider joining the fight and contributing $88 to the cause. Click here to donate online.

Thanks so much.

Sincerely,

Sylvia Mackey
Mrs. #88
